Tell us about yourself, your background and your journey to your current role as CEO at IFZA.
My career has been a journey through different industries and global markets, all of which has shaped my leadership approach today. Throughout my career I have had the privilege of working with organizations that focus on sustainable growth.
As the CEO of IFZA Dubai, my vision is to ensure that we are not just facilitating business setup but creating a dynamic ecosystem that contributes to the long-term success of our partners and licensees. I firmly believe that a free zone ecosystem should serve as a platform where businesses are empowered, ideas are nurtured, and innovation is encouraged.
A thriving business is built through teamwork and collaboration, and I take immense pride in leading a diverse and talented team that shares our vision. We are expanding and strengthening our international footprint by opening offices in key markets to truly connect people and facilitate seamless business across borders. Through our ecosystem, we aim to provide businesses with the support, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive in an increasingly globalized economy.
What has been your biggest success in your current role?
One of the achievements I am most proud of is assembling a diverse and talented team that has built something extraordinary from the ground up. The team is a vital part of IFZA’s Vision and Mission. We have a clear purpose. When I joined, we had to establish not just the business but an entire culture. Today, IFZA has grown into a globally recognized Free Zone ecosystem, attracting companies from all around the world. We’ve expanded our presence internationally, developed an ecosystem that goes beyond incorporation, and positioned IFZA as a key player in enabling business success. Our journey fits perfectly o our very diverse and talented IFZA team.
In today’s fast-changing global economy, how do you ensure your organization remains agile yet stable?
To maintain stability, we focus on adaptability, strategic partnerships, and long-term planning. We stay ahead of market shifts by being proactive and setting new standards in the market. Whether it’s evolving our services to meet business needs or partnering with international organizations. At the same time, we ensure that there are clear operational frameworks and processes; and a company culture that embraces change without losing sight of our core values. We never lose our North Star and our long-term targets.
What do you believe makes a great leader?
A great leader, in my opinion, is someone who leads with authenticity – staying true to their values while being transparent in their decisions. Authentic leadership is also about having the ability to inspire others around you by being a role model. Great leaders lead others by setting examples and by embracing their strengths and vulnerabilities, creating an environment where people feel valued and motivated. We are all humans, also in our roles in the organisation. Leadership isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about being open to learning, adapting, and empowering others to grow.
What leadership principles guide your decision-making, especially during challenging times? Does it serve our purpose and long-term goals? Does it create real value?
One principle that I always adhere to is clarity, ensuring that our direction, purpose, and strategy are clearly communicated. In times of uncertainty, leaders need to be decisive yet flexible, always taking in different perspectives while staying focused on long-term goals. Transparency, clarity, fairness and target orientation are key drivers in my decision-making process.
What role does company culture play in your leadership style, and how do you cultivate it?
Company culture is the foundation of any successful organization. At IFZA, we have built a culture that values collaboration. I believe that culture is cultivated through consistent actions, shared values, and an environment where people feel empowered to contribute their best work.
We strongly encourage open communication and professional growth at our company. I like the saying “Culture eats strategy for breakfast”
What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned as a leader, and how has it shaped your approach to business?
Ownership and Accountability are the main success factors in our organisation. Every employee should clearly know and understand their responsibility. If I say, “every employee”, I mean “every employee”
What do you see as the biggest challenges and opportunities for Free Zones in the current economic climate?
The global economic landscape is shifting, and Free Zones must evolve to remain competitive. One of the biggest challenges is navigating increasing regulatory complexities while maintaining ease of doing business. At the same time, there are immense opportunities in the region due to global connectivity.
Businesses today are looking for more. They want a partner that provides comprehensive, individual support, strategic connections, and access to emerging markets. Free Zones that can offer this are the ones that will thrive in the coming years.
How do you envision the future of your industry, and what steps is your organization taking to stay ahead?
The future of Free Zones lies in their ability to create interconnected ecosystems that go beyond traditional business facilitation. We are seeing a shift towards more integrated, more efficient and technology-driven environments where companies benefit from cross border collaboration and streamlined regulatory frameworks.
At IFZA, we are strengthening our global partnerships and ensuring that businesses in our ecosystem have access to the tools and solutions they need to succeed in an increasingly interconnected world.
What advice would you give to aspiring leaders who want to build successful and resilient organizations?
Stay curious, stay adaptable, and never stop learning. The most successful leaders are those who embrace change, seek diverse perspectives, and build organizations that are not just successful today but are prepared for the future. Surround yourself with people who challenge and inspire you and always lead with purpose and integrity.
