A Day in The Life Of: Saahil Mehta

Tell Us About Your Background.

Being born & raised in Belgium with Indian descent and educated in the British school with students over 100 nationalities, I have been blessed with an international outlook. This was further developed in my adult years as I lived in five countries across three continents with my current residence being in Dubai, UAE since the summer of 2007.

Although life has treated me very well having loving parents, an amazing wife and wonderful children, I would often feel something was missing. It was not until the spring of 2016 where I was on a trip to the magical island of Ibiza with seven of my dear friends, did I truly realise how euphoric life could be. We had all decided to non-judgement which meant I did not have to impress others or be someone I am not… I could just be me.

After coming back from this trip, I concluded that I had been shunning confrontation with everything around me for too long in order to be seen as Mr. nice guy. This process had created a lot of clutter which I was dragging around with me. It was time to make myself the #1 priority and break free from the clutter holding me down.

Now I am achieving more with less effort. I feel happier without seeking it. I no longer have any toxic relationships. I am waking up energised each day. I now share the tools and rituals in my break free framework with the world.

What Made You Get Into Entrepreneurship?

Although my father did not start his entrepreneurial journey until the age of 54, he treated his workplace as his own and would always share his experiences and introduce me to several of his key clients. In fact, several holidays were mixed where he would be meeting his clients for a few hours each day and spend the rest with us in countries in Europe and South East Asia, further expanding my global perspective.

After completing my masters in electronic & electrical engineering from UCL in the UK, I entered the job market starting as an investment banker and then moving into the world of diamonds thereafter. Based on the entrepreneurial environment I was raised in and realising I wanted to be more in control of my destiny, I left the corporate world and started my own company.

Although I have had many learnings (I call it learnings, not failures), fortunately the successes have outweighed the learnings allowing me to elevate in all areas of my life.

I now manage three companies; diamond trading, hospitality services, and bringing diamond level clarity to leaders in order for them scale their summit of success faster.

What Current Business Trends Do You See?

I see a rise in customer service and efficiency in communication. With face-to-face interaction decreasing in several functions, it has become a lot more important to ensure customer service is high regardless of the method of communication. As a customer, I want to feel special and ensure that I am of importance. Over the years, service levels have gone done as people have started to outsource or automate. It is time to get back in shape to avoid losing customers to your competition.

Efficiency of communication is also key because the way the world is going, people always seem to be on the run so it is absolutely critical to be crystal clear to the point in communication. Don’t forget, when it comes to written communication, a sentence can change meaning depending on which word you emphasise.

What Interesting Projects have You Implemented?

I realised through the several speaking engagements I have done that people get inspired but only a handful are able to make changes on their own. To increase the rate of success to break free by removing clutter from one’s life, I create a group coaching program for leaders spread over 6 months where we deep dive into each topic every fortnight and then hold each other accountable as well as support each other through the process. I ask each member before they join – are you ready to be truly unstoppable? It really is wonderful to watch the transformation right in front of my eyes.

Take Us Through Your Typical Work Day

My day usually starts early in the morning, an hour before the rest of the house wakes up. They say the first hour is the rudder for the day. Previously I would be on the run from the time I got up but now I have taken control of my mornings and ensure I go through a process of movement to open up the body/breathwork to oxygenate and come alive/meditate to balance between the mind and heart and I finish with journaling which includes my top priorities of the day. So you see, at the end of the hour I am energised and focused to achieve far greater results than before.

During work, I rotate between sitting, standing and walking at my desk (I have an under-desk treadmill) to keep moving which keeps me energised and ensures I am not following a sedentary lifestyle. I also make sure I allocate enough time for lunch to eat properly without the distractions of tv/phone/magazine/etc so I nourish my body with the right fuel.

Work is very important as it generates income which pays for my lifestyle, however my family are more important so I ensure I get home in time to have dinner with the kids. Not only do I get quality family time, but I also get to eat a few hours before I go to bed at 10pm allowing the food to be digested so I get a better night’s sleep, not to mention more healing too.
