Business Leader Spotlight: Mr. Valerio Soldani, Italian Trade Commissioner to the UAE and Oman

Can you tell us about your role as Italian Trade Commissioner to the UAE and Oman, and how it connects to supporting Italian dental companies internationally?

As Italian Trade Commissioner to the UAE and Oman, my role is to support the international growth of Italian companies by strengthening trade relations, creating business opportunities, and promoting the excellence of Made in Italy. Within the dental sector, this involves working closely with Italian manufacturers, industry associations, and institutional partners to facilitate market access, encourage commercial partnerships, and position Italian technologies within the region’s fast-evolving healthcare ecosystem. Events such as AEEDC provide an important platform to connect Italian companies with international stakeholders and support their long-term development in global markets.

The UAE is described as a central regional gateway for Italian dental innovation. What makes the UAE such a strategic market for Italy’s dental sector?

The UAE plays a central role as a regional hub for healthcare, trade, and innovation, making it a natural gateway for Italian dental companies operating across the Middle East. The country’s advanced healthcare infrastructure, strong focus on medical innovation, and openness to international collaboration create an environment where high-quality technologies can thrive. This is reflected in trade performance, with Italian dental exports to the UAE reaching €32.67 million between January and September 2025, and Italy’s market share rising to 5.38 percent. These figures highlight both the UAE’s strategic importance and the strong demand for Italian dental solutions in this market.

What are your main objectives for Italy’s participation at AEEDC Dubai 2026?

How are Italian manufacturers contributing to the expansion of advanced dental care across the Middle East, particularly through precision equipment and digital technologies?

Italian manufacturers are supporting the expansion of advanced dental care by delivering reliable, high-performance solutions that respond to the evolving needs of modern dental practice. Italy is internationally recognised for its leadership in high-precision manufacturing, with equipment accounting for 56 percent of dental exports. Through advanced equipment, CAD/CAM systems, digital prosthetics, implantology, orthodontics, and environmentally responsible materials, Italian companies are contributing technologies that enhance clinical efficiency, accuracy, and quality of care across the region.

How does Italy’s presence at AEEDC 2026 reflect its wider commitment to innovation, trade and sustainability within the healthcare sector?

Italy’s presence at AEEDC reflects a broader commitment to advancing innovation, strengthening international trade, and promoting sustainable approaches within healthcare manufacturing. The Italian Pavilion highlights not only technological excellence, but also Italy’s ability to combine research, craftsmanship, and responsible production. The strong export performance of Italy’s dental sector, together with the focus on environmentally responsible materials and advanced digital solutions, demonstrates how Italian companies are aligning innovation with long-term sustainability and global healthcare needs.

Recent data highlights strong export performance for Italy’s dental industry. How important is the Middle East – and the UAE specifically – to the global strength of Italy’s dental sector?

The Middle East has emerged as a strategic growth market for Italy’s dental industry, with regional exports reaching €47.6 million in 2024. Within this context, the UAE continues to play a leading role, acting as both a key destination market and a gateway to the wider region. The sustained growth in exports to the UAE, alongside rising market share, underscores the region’s importance to Italy’s international trade performance and reflects renewed momentum for Italian dental technologies globally.

Looking ahead, how do you see trade and cooperation between Italy and the UAE continuing to develop within the dental and wider healthcare sectors?

The outlook for Italy–UAE cooperation is very positive. The UAE’s continued investment in advanced healthcare, innovation, and specialised medical services aligns closely with Italy’s strengths in precision manufacturing and dental technologies. Moving forward, we see growing opportunities for deeper commercial partnerships, technological collaboration, and long-term engagement that supports the expansion of advanced dental care. Platforms such as AEEDC will continue to play an important role in strengthening these ties and encouraging sustainable business development.
