Company Spotlight: Stuart Collins, Mission Transition

Tell us about yourself and your background

My name is Stuart Collins, and I’m the founder of Mission Transition. I served for over 22 years in the British Army, operating in high-pressure environments where leadership, accountability, and decision-making were critical. Like many people leaving service, I experienced first-hand how difficult it can be to translate military experience into civilian life without the right support.

That lived experience is what shaped Mission Transition. It isn’t built on theory or generic advice — it’s built on understanding what transition actually feels like, not just professionally, but personally and as a family.

What led to you founding Mission Transition?

Mission Transition was created because too many capable people were being left to “figure it out” once they left structured environments like the military. Transition is often treated as a CV exercise or a job-search problem, when in reality it’s an identity shift, a confidence shift, and often a family shift too.

I saw talented individuals — veterans and non-veterans alike — struggle not because they lacked ability, but because no one helped them bridge the gap between where they were and where they wanted to be. Mission Transition exists to close that gap with clarity, structure, and real support.

What are the core values and mission of the company?

Our mission is simple: to help people and organisations be ready, not just available.

We operate at the intersection of:

– Talent readiness
– Leadership behaviour
– Inclusion and culture
– Performance under pressure

Our values are rooted in integrity, realism, and inclusion. We don’t sell quick fixes or false promises. We focus on long-term outcomes — for individuals, families, and organisations.

What is the biggest challenge facing people entering the civilian job market?

The biggest challenge isn’t capability — it’s translation and confidence.

For veterans, it’s about learning how to articulate leadership, discipline, and accountability in a civilian context. For non-military professionals, it’s often about navigating uncertainty, change, or career transitions without structure.

Mission Transition supports both. We work with ex-military personnel from around the globe, but we also support civilians, career changers, and professionals who want clarity, direction, and performance support as they move into roles across the UAE and the wider Middle East.

What does Mission Transition offer?

We help people find roles across the UAE and Middle East, but our work doesn’t stop at placement.

Mission Transition provides:

– Transition coaching and structured support
– Talent readiness and role alignment
– Leadership and behaviour development
– Inclusion and culture advisory
– Performance optimisation

We work with individuals to prepare them properly for civilian roles, and we work with organisations to ensure they hire and retain people who are genuinely ready.

In what markets and industries do you operate?

We operate across multiple sectors including defence, security, logistics, construction, corporate leadership, and professional services.

Our reach spans the UAE, wider Middle East, and international markets, supporting individuals relocating or transitioning into regional roles.

How are you supporting companies in the UAE and Middle East?

We support organisations by helping them build teams that perform when it matters. That means focusing on behaviour, leadership, inclusion, and culture — not just hiring.

We help companies understand how to integrate ex-military talent effectively, but also how to support diverse teams, manage pressure, and develop leaders who can operate in complex environments.

Can you share an example of impact?

We’ve supported individuals who felt lost or undervalued after leaving structured careers. Through structured coaching, role alignment, and behavioural insight, they’ve gone on to secure roles aligned with their strengths — not just jobs, but careers with purpose.

The real impact isn’t just employment; it’s restored confidence, clarity, and momentum.

Mission Transition is a family-led business, tell us more

Mission Transition is very much a family business, and that’s something we’re proud of.

My daughter, Lydia Collins, runs the administration and talent acquisition side of the business, ensuring our processes are structured, professional, and people-focused.

We’re also supported by my other daughter @Chloe C., founder of @T12 who leads on website development and social media, helping us communicate our message authentically and creatively.

At the heart of everything we do is my youngest daughter, Lexi Collins. Mission Transition proudly carries the motto “Strength in Lexi. Strength in Us.” It’s a reminder that resilience, family, and purpose sit at the core of our mission.

How have you recently expanded the Mission Transition family?

We’ve recently welcomed two exceptional people into the Mission Transition family.

Rukhsana Nugent brings over 15 years of experience supporting organisations and individuals across the Middle East. She specialises in diversity, inclusive leadership, learning and development, and behaviour-led culture change.

We’ve also brought on Rowan M., owner of Optimised Performan who now serves as Human Performance Optimisation Director with Mission Transition. Rowan is currently delivering a pilot human-performance programme in the UAE, focused on helping individuals and teams perform consistently under pressure.

Both bring enormous value to our work with individuals and organisations alike.

You have also launched a podcast, what’s it about?

The Mission Transition podcast creates space for honest conversations about leadership, performance, inclusion, and transition. We speak with veterans, business leaders, and specialists who understand what it really takes to lead and perform in today’s world.

It’s about insight, not noise — and it’s already resonating strongly across the region.
